The AIs simply didn't 'feel' as robust in the Vegas games because of the spawning system, and the catastrophes that would happen naturally in Raven Shield/Athena Sword when someone cocked up. This is exactly how I feel- overall once you understood how the mode worked, it ultimately felt weak. So I'm wondering are there any shooters out there that are like this? I've been wanting to play a shooter lately, but literally nothing out right now appeals to me. I've come to appreciate the "less is more" game design philosophy lately and it seems to me that it would be beneficial if a shooter had less enemies but more intelligent enemies. Armor which either slowed you down and let you take a few extra hits or light armor that allowed you to move around faster. It also had different kinds of weapon attachments, gadgets and armor.

Not only was the core gameplay incredibly tense and rewarding but the unlock system was for more than just guns. When playing on realistic difficulty each downed terrorist was a mini victory and a cleared mission was such an exhilarating feeling. Due to the relative small amount of enemies I believed their intelligence was much higher than the average fps enemy or it least it seemed that way back when my group played it. If I recall correctly all of the terrorists were already on the map and there was a running counter of all of the ones remaining. This may seem very rudimentary but it wasn't the fast paced wave based co op mode we are used to these days. Each player had 2 lives and once all the lives were spent it was "mission failed" and you would try again and again. For the uninitiated Terrorist Hunt was a multiplayer mode in Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 that had you and your friends working together to clear a map of 50 or so terrorists.
